PMO Retail Leader - APAC


POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: * Responsible for establishing and standardizing APAC IT project management practices for multiple types of projects. * Drives a culture of urgency, on-time, on-budget and in-scope project delivery * Oversees a staff of Project Managers thru matrix reporting structure, providing day to day management support. * Take ownership of managing IT portfolio and priorities. Assesses and oversees portfolio of activities and proactively works with resource managers and solutions managers to identify and resolve constraints and competing priorities, resource contention, timelines or budgets. * Ensures adherence to NCR IT PMO policy and process standards for all projects within assigned portfolio * Ensures assigned staff augmentation resources are productive and aligned with the portfolio needs. Pro-actively work with Functional Managers to mitigate risks associated with shared resources and/or limited knowledge. Identifies potential resource constraints and builds in the associated contingency plans * Accountable to ensure prioritization decisions are communicated throughout the organization * Responsible for compliance on all strategic project execution to ensure successful delivery to meet the performance objectives * Act as first line of escalation for project issues or performance issues with assigned PMO staff * Plan, support and participate in periodic steering committee and other strategic project meetings to ensure project stakeholders are properly informed on project success and the presentation reflects the professionalism of the PMO * Acts as advisor to program / project team regarding projects, tasks and operations. Provides support to Business Owner, analysts, project managers, consultants and vendors relating to projects and project tasks including satisfactory testing. * Oversees all aspects of project activities including the appropriateness and quality of deliverables as required by Business Owners. * Maintains effective mechanism to track and monitor projects, validates estimates as presented and identifies/allocates required project resources. * Aides in coordinating preparations of proposals, business case, plan, specifications and financial conditions of contracts. * Communicates with key stakeholders to secure continuous organizational commitment * Proactively manage conflicts * Educates team members and project managers in project management principles, methods, standards, processes and tools

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years Project Management experience in IT
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related technical field required
  • Experience leading and/or establishing PMO at an organization
  • 5 years of management responsibility including managing a team of project management professionals
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources
  • Experience defining governance/project management frameworks and measuring adherence
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing, guiding and providing mentorship to varying levels of staff
  • Experience running large projects/programs using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • PMP, Agile or Scrum certifications a plus
  • Expert in Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience working under pressure and deadlines.

  • Complete Project Governance monthly status update documents (per PM input)
  • PMO to develop monthly key project Executive Summary deck

Assessments

  • To participate in the assessments and provide assistance in identifying actions plans
  • Conduct Analysis on Large, Select or Troubled projects

Escalations

  • Provide needed data for potential escalations by region and customer

Training

  • Identify training needs from the regions.
  • Identify resources that should complete the training; work with GPMO to follow-up for outstanding training courses
  • Conduct training in the regions.

PS Bid Reviews

  • Supports PS Leaders and Project Managers to prepare bid review material.
  • Participate in all region bid reviews and make sure the process is followed.

Methodology/Processes

  • Implements common processes, methodologies and templates
  • Communicate enhancements to regional teams
  • Work with Global PMO to ensure regional needs are understood and are supportive of corporate strategic direction
