POSITION OVERVIEW:

The technical author creates and updates a range of customer and service publications for NCR products which could include site preparation, installation, operator manuals, service and parts manuals. Position will have broad control over the design and presentation of the materials within the corporate guidelines.

The successful candidate will work with engineering, quality and product management teams to identify and verify required technical changes. They will also be expected to identify improvements to the publications that will contribute to ease of use for users.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

o Develop a project plan that states key milestones and deliverables. o Participate in review meetings with engineers and validate publications with software/hardware in the labs. o Identify and incorporate required content or changes into the publications. o Manage workload and priorities to fit project timelines and when necessary communicate information about timetables and milestones that may be at risk. o Complete status reports and participate in departmental and project team meetings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

o In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. o Able to work both independently or as part of a team. o Able to follow guidelines and instructions. o Have solid written and verbal communication skills. o Fast learner with the ability to work in a fast–paced environment. o Must be well–organized and detail oriented. o Must show initiative in completing assignments and finding innovative solutions to problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

o Familiar with FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or comparable publishing software. o Familiar with illustration tools such as CorelDraw, CorelDesigner. o Familiar with CAD tools such as ProE, Solidworks. o Knowledge of Subversion or comparable document repository software.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
