Position Summary: As the Senior Manager for NCR’s SW Innovation Lab, you will be responsible for the SW Engineering / AI teams and identification / research / delivery for concepts that are in alignment with NCR’s strategy. The leader in this role will need to be accustomed to leading a global team requiring us to be agile and customer centric. This role will collaborate directly with Product Management, and customer facing teams. This role would require significant customer interaction, both to present projects as well as engage customer teams in active projects.

Key areas of responsibility: · Manage the cross-industry SW innovation lab, providing hands-on leadership, engaged in inventing and exploring concepts using cutting edge technologies like deep learning, blockchain, IoT, robotics, etc. · Build and lead a software engineering / AI team where experimentation, rapid prototyping and fast-fail in really short turnaround time is the ethos of the team culture · Mentor team to build an opinionated organization that develops transformational prototypes, expanding the different perspectives and laying out the art of the possible. · Partner with Product Management, Sales and other satellite innovation teams to understand strategy, align priorities, and experiment new ideas. · Provide technical thought leadership while working with major customers and partners

Leadership Qualifications · 5 years in software development with experience managing and leading development teams · Experience in hands-on leadership, building prototypes in hours and days, with small teams. · Winning style with customers including articulating new ideas and an ability to explain technical topics in an understandable way · Agile processes and methods, particularly Scrum. Understanding and experience leading in SAFe, is preferable. · Ability to manage the multiple diverse 30-90 day deliverables for customers, trade shows, conferences and · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · People Management – Leading, developing and coaching engineering teams to achieve their best potential

Technology Qualifications · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field · 10 years of experience in software architecture, design, and development · Experience in using bleeding-edge technology to prototype concepts quickly. · Experience with HTML5, Javascript and Python desirable. · Proficiency in front-end data visualization solutions like d3.js and BI tools. · Experience in running data science / machine learning / AI teams / projects is desirable. · Experience with machine learning / deep learning, with Tensorflow, Theano, PyTorch MXNet or CNTK would be desirable. · Ability to bridge existing / legacy systems to achieve the new concept being explored. · A can-do attitude.
