Industrial Designer

Atlanta, GA

To provide industrial design expertise to Self Service product development teams. The position is to provide industrial design input to create solutions for self-service terminals for organizations internationally with particular emphasis on the consumer experience and the consumer journey.

The successful candidate will be working within the User Centered Design (UCD) team in support of the Development teams responsible for hardware products and devices.

You will work as an integral team member within multidisciplinary project teams. Responsibilities include: Quick ideation of new concepts from outline briefs. Blue sky visualization CAD modelling and high fidelity rendering Big picture visionary with roll up sleeves and make prototypes attitude Participate / lead design thinking activities inside and outside NCR Contribute to design language definition and management of implementation Collaborate with UCD colleagues in the usability validation of new ideas Represent UCD cross disciplinary interests in internal and external teams. Develop a high level of understanding of customer requirements, NCR solutions and the industries that NCR participates in. Be aware of competitors self-service solutions Attend appropriate conferences and seminars and provide timely and concise feedback to UCD team members Active participation in UCD design thinking events Develop and deliver presentations and reports to support the effective communication of project activities and results to internal audiences.

Education and Background:

Honors degree or equivalent in Industrial or Product design or equivalent experience. Formal education / experience in Usability using information technology. Good University or Industry project portfolio.

Work Experience: 0 - 2 years relevant industrial experience. Experience with small handheld products an advantage.

Personality: Adaptable and flexible attitude essential. You should be able to work on a range of projects, alone or as a member of a multidisciplinary team. You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for the area and a willingness to seek innovative approaches to design problems..

Initiative: You will be proactive, independently seeking out opportunities to promote design and usability within product development.

Communication: You will be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
