PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Compliance Engineer-EMC will work under the direction of the Senior EMC Engineer and Compliance Engineering Manager to ensure compliance of NCR products with domestic and international EMC regulations.

  • Conduct testing of NCR hardware products in accordance with industry standards and governmental regulations (e.g. FCC, European Union and others) as well as NCR's quality standards

  • Prepare EMC reports and other required documentation

  • Assist in the diagnosis and resolution of EMC issues

  • Provide consultation and guidance to hardware development teams to ensure compliance with EMC requirements through the product development process and the entire product lifecycle

  • Maintain in-house EMC testing laboratory and ensure that equipment is capable (operational and properly calibrated) of performing EMC tests in accordance with the current standards and regulations applicable to NCR products.

  • Complete EMC testing in accordance with product development schedules.

  • Work with product development teams to ensure compliance with EMC requirements through testing and documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Engineering development teams in understanding and complying with EMC regulations

  • Prepare and review EMC test reports

  • Provide prompt responses to inquiries related to EMC compliance.

  • Occasional travel may be required to attend conferences and seminars.

  • Keep abreast of changes to EMC regulations that affect NCR products by reading trade periodicals, attending conferences, internet searches and networking within the EMC community

  • Assist in other areas of compliance such as product safety and environmental

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or comparable education/experience

  • Previous EMC experience is desirable, but not mandatory

  • Skilled in the use of electronic test equipment (e.g. spectrum analyzer, RF receivers and amplifiers, antennas)

  • Willing and able to work flexible hours and late shift.

  • Good personal computer skills

  • US Permanent Resident

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (not mandatory)

  • Experience with EMC testing of Information Technology Equipment

  • Familiarity with automated test equipment and GPIB

  • RF testing experience using anechoic or semi-anechoic EMC chambers

  • Knowledge of and experience with EMC mitigation techniques

  • Experience and knowledge of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) regulations (e.g. EN55032, EN 55024, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11)

  • Experience with EMC compliance in a product development environment/organization.

  • Knowledge of point-of-sale hardware and system architecture.

  • Knowledge of KC, BSMI, VCCI, RCM certifications
